Bottle nuts, blow down kits and burst discs explained
Bottle nuts Depending on the bottle you've got you'll either have a CGA660 Valve or a BS No.8 - Nitrous lines are 4AN so you'll need some way to join the line to the bottle. Simply screw on a bottle nut adapter to drop the CGA660 / BS8 valve thread down to a 4AN
Burst Discs The valve on a bottle has a burst disc fitted which is a safety device. If the pressure inside the bottle gets too high (like if you leave it in the sun and the nitrous gets hot) the disc will rupture and the entire contents of your bottle will escape through the hole. It sounds drastic but it is better than the pressure of the Nitrous exceeding the limit on the bottle and the bottle exploding!!
Blow Down Kit This replaces your standard burst disc with a special fitting containing a burst disc and a length of aluminium tube. The tube exits the boot of your car through a small hole. Should the disc burst the nitrous will flow down the tube and to the outside world rather than fill your car up.
